I did my graduate and post-graduate degrees in Microbiology from India. I followed it with D. Phil at University of Oxford, UK, on Molecular Epidemiology of Schistosoma japonicum. I then did a post-doc at Cancer Research UK on identifying novel cell cycle regulators.
I am an experienced Clinical Scientist (HCPC registered- Microbiology) combining strengths in clinical diagnostics and life science research in Parasitology. My work experience spans academic, clinical, public health and NHS sectors. I am also Honorary Associate Professor, Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
I have been on the ECCMID Society for Clinical Parasitology board as an elected Executive committee member. I am also associate editor for Frontiers in Parasitology; and invited reviewer on many journals relevant in the field. Recently, I have worked within the NHS as Head of Research & Development at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, wherein I enabled improved health outcomes through integrated research into patient care pathways.
Since 2015, I have managed the UK NEQAS’ proficiency testing schemes for Parasitology and successfully run 10 such schemes at global level.
